The museum gathers exhibits relating to the history of education in Lodz Region> It was established in 1983 as the Special Collections Division of Tadeusz Kotarbiński Regional Pedagogical Library in Lodz. The core of the collections are documents concerning the history of education, and in particular the history of Lodz schools and distinguished pedagogues, such as: pictures, visitors books, student certificates, diplomas or student IDs. The museum has a collection of more than 70 school banners, but the most interesting, especially for the youngest visitors, are former teaching aids and old objects: furniture, globes, microscopes, inkpots and abacuses. The museum organises interesting lessons in a room with furniture from decades ago. The educational programme is addressed to primary, secondary and even university students. Among many proposals, you will find such intriguing topics as: "From the history of books – how books were made and ornamented," "From pictograms to the alphabet – a short history of writing" or "Calligraphy – the art of handwriting." There are also other attractions, like writing with a goose feather or copying Mediaeval monastery scripts.Photographies: Map:
